Text Box: Text Box: Dr. Thomas Ward shared his ideas and concepts in a PowerPoint which he prepared for us. We gained knowledge about Latin countries; all the way from their history to their environment. We were informed that Latin America differs from North America in that they have many little countries and were never united. Who would have thought that Chile has a better Social Security system than the U.S., or that people from Peru Text Box: had to cross the Andes Mountains in order to trade? There is so much we didn’t know about Latin America that Dr. Ward taught us.

Text Box: The Middle Eastern section of seminar week was directed by our English Teacher, Maja Esposito. The lesson began with a presentation on how the Middle East has been overrun by dozens of different empires throughout its history, and the reason why even now, the region has not been able to achieve peace. Mrs. Esposito gave the students a chance to do their own research and make a small presentation to teach the class a few facts about each of the Middle Eastern countries. During the presentations, Mrs. Esposito asked the students to remember the flags of each of Text Box: the countries. After the presentations, the students split into teams and competed to see who could remember the most flags.
Mrs. Esposito also gave the class a glimpse of the culture of the Middle East. Each student made either a beaded necklace in the Middle Eastern fashion, or a decorated sword. Some popular Middle Eastern music was played off of Youtube, and some students even tried imitating the Middle Eastern dance styles in videos

Text Box: Text Box: On our ‘Seminar Week,’ we focused on International Studies, which includes international food. Lunch was served in school, and was prepared by teachers and the students. On Monday, we had a potluck, where everyone was asked to bring in international food to share. We had fried plantains and sushi, as well as many other delicious dishes. Tuesday, we had Chinese Food. There were four big tubs of food, with fried rice, and three Text Box: other dishes. On other days we dived into American culture with Subway sandwiches and pizza. The week finished with make it yourself Tacos, with all the delicious ingredients laid out to serve. By the end of the week he had had many delicious meals including some that we may have never heard of, let alone tasted, and all in all, it was a good week… for FOOD!
