There were music, international food, power point presentations, and costumes. Students had an opportunity to make origami, try their hand at writing in other languages, watch videos, play games and dance. From ballet to square-dancing, from jewelry-making, to eating sushi and hummus, it was a week of global experiences.
Text Box: 	This year BIA held a global studies seminar week. Each classroom was set up as a different part of the world. Students were divided into teams and each team visited a different area every day.
	The day began with a religious leader’s visit from each of the major religions. Rev. Paul An shared about Confucianism, Rabbi James Prosnit demonstrated the blowing of a “Shofar” and gave an overview of worldwide Judaism. The whole school attended a service where the Muslim members worship on campus given by Dr. Kareem Adeeb who spoke eloquently about Muslim beliefs and ethics. Rev. Smallwood, the Protestant campus minister for UB, gave a service in the Text Box: chapel of Carstensen Hall on the U.B. campus. He emphasized the thoughts and words of Martin Luther. Throughout the week, Dr. Spurgin provided a background lecture for each part of the world. Students received a “passport” which they took from room to room (country to country) receiving a “stamp” to indicate their attendance.
	General Francis Kalangala shared passionate insights into Genocide in Africa, as well as youth education through initiation rites. Mr. Noel Cleary gave us insights into his 12 years in Saudi Arabia and showed us artifacts from the desert. Dr. Thomas Ward spoke with great knowledge about the political and religious climate Text Box: Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rabbi James Prosnit let us ask him any question about Jewish people, their history or their beliefs. It was great to be able to participate and learn so many things from someone with a lot of experience.

Text Box: James Prosnit, A Jewish Rabbi, visited us on the second day of seminar week. He taught us the difference between the different branches of Judaism. The Fundamentalists have a stronger belief and a stronger interpretation of the Torah. Eighteen million Jews are Text Box: living across the world today; two percent of America’s population is Jewish. After Rabbi Prosnit was done informing us on Jewish traditions, he blew the “shofar” - a ram's horn blown as a wind instrument, in modern times chiefly at synagogue services on Rosh
