Text Box: I have some good news and some bad news. As most of you know, this is our last year in the building we have grown so fond of, Cooper Hall. That’s the bad news. The good news is, the new building we’re moving to, Seaside Institute, is looking better and better. With more space, a lab for the science room, new computers, ceiling projectors and DVD players for every classroom, high speed, wireless internet, color coordinated tiles, and so much more, this school is expected to be a great learning environment. With its completion imminent we plan to move there before the start of the next school year.
Recently, the PTA toured the unfinished school, and even an incomplete school got ringing praises from those who saw it. “Awesome,” said Keiko Breland, a local mother. “I Text Box: have great hope for the future of BIA,” remarked local photographer, TJ Sallah. With that said, we here at the newsletter must say that as the school nears completion we realized that this school was leaving its birthplace for a bright future. Good-bye Cooper Hall, we will never forget you. You’ll always have a place in our hearts. May your walls hold our memories forever.
-Matthew Breland

Text Box: On March 15th, Bridgeport International Academy was granted accreditation by NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges). NEASC is the most prestigious accrediting body in New England. Regional accreditation will be valuable to the school and the students because is makes our school academically substantial. The process of gaining NEASC Text Box: approval was not a small effort. BIA spent over one and a half years preparing a self-study and evaluating the school based on 84 basic standards. In October, seven educators from the New England area visited BIA for 3 days on a site visit, observing the school in operation, interviewing teachers and staff, and examining all records and the physical facility. Having NEASC Text Box: accreditation is a giant step for the development of the school. Coupled with our move to our new quarters and the celebration of our 10th anniversary we are moving forward in our preparation to receive many new students. Thanks to the hard work of the teachers, staff, parents, and students, this has been a great year of victory.
